As we navigate through life we encounter experiences and situations we may not have been prepared for. This is when professional help can be instrumental in coping. Jackie has helped clients move in directions they never thought possible. Assisting clients through creative means by using their own unique and valuable strengths to promote personal growth is part of the process she puts into action. She considers herself and eclectic counselor through the use of a variety of approaches incorporating creativity and Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapies.

As the managing director of North Texas Counselors, Jackie is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and author of 7 books. She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science in Counseling degree from Texas Woman’s University. Jackie is a member of the Texas Counseling Association and the Association for Play Therapy as well as frequent presenter on a variety of therapeutic topics.

Over the last 10 years Jackie has had the privilege of working with children, teens and adults in a variety of settings including schools, agencies and private practice. Her work as a Registered Play Therapist offers a unique approach using creativity as a means of expression for all ages. Through her work with children Jackie uses Play Therapy to look for themes in what a child is internally experiencing and to help parents better understand their child’s world. Jackie feels it is important to offer a visual, hands on approach in session as a means of expression including social stories, anger meters and/or behavior plans, which can be used later as a visual reinforcement for home and school.

When working with teens and adults, she meets people where they are on their life journey offering respect and a deep understanding of each client’s unique experience and goals. Jackie strongly believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. She enjoys guiding individuals through the process of self-exploration, where clients increase their self-awareness and realize the power they have to make life changes. Jackie helps people achieve life balance, improve relationships, increase self-confidence and self-acceptance, manage feelings of anxiety and depression, and feel empowered in their lives.

As the author of 7 books used by counselors, parents, schools and agencies nationwide, Jackie has a lot to offer her clients. Jackie chose to put all of her unique and original ideas in these books to help with some of the challenges children face today. These books tap into the creative counseling approach and allow individuals to further their progress in therapy. Her books focus on helping children and adolescents in the areas of improving character traits, self-esteem, leadership and social skills.
