Sandra Shelton, MS, LPC-S
Sandra retired from education after 35 years, serving as a high school counselor for 20 years, two of which were as a crisis counselor. She is a Texas Woman’s University graduate with a master’s degree in Counseling and focuses on supporting clients who are struggling with anxiety, stress and grief. She has a passion for helping people who are searching for coping skills and wanting a quality life that is worth living to its fullest. Her experience is working with adolescents and parents, as well as adults who are dealing with transitional life changes like retirement or grief and death of a spouse. Primarily, the treatment therapies she uses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus, Sandtray therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, depending on the issue the client presents. People often desire someone who is an empathic listener who tries to understand his/her internal struggles. Sandra is someone who listens not only to what someone says but also to the non-verbal messages sent and the emotional component of their struggle.

Sandra has been married for 33 years, has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. She also has a 7 year old schnauzer, Belle, who is the delight of her home now that she is an empty-nester. She welcomes conversations about our fur babies and how they enrich our lives! If you are facing a transitional life change or struggling with anxiety issues like perfectionism, food issues, grief or stress, Sandra is also a trained Mindful Meditation teacher and can guide you through exercises to help you focus and calm your mind. Sandra cares for making lives better. If you think she will be a good fit for you as a therapist call 972-942-8644 or email sandra@ntxcounselors.com.
